Registration: Access Code Not Valid for the Website or Course
I got the error code error code 7 or 84 when registering for a Pearson Higher Education course.
If you are an instructor, see Obtaining an Access Code for Instructors for help obtaining a different access code.
If you are taking an AP, honors, or elective course at a high school and received this error, see K-12, High School: Obtaining an Access Code for registration instructions.
Each access code can be used to register for a specific product or set of products. If your access code is not valid for the site or course where you are registering, it is because you are trying to register at a site that requires a different type of code.
Please check the instructions that came with the code to verify that you are at the correct website for that code.
If your access code is not for the site you would like to access, please return to the retailer where it was purchased and exchange it for the correct access code kit. Access codes purchased from retailers that are not directly associated with your instructor, university or college may not be valid for the specific requirements of your course developed by your instructor. These retailers are outside the local university bookstore/bookshop environment. Pearson is unable to replace the access codes purchased from outside the university bookstore.
Students should work with the retail vendor to replace or return the access code. It may be necessary to then purchase the access code at the university or college local school bookstore to be sure of receiving the correct materials.
If you are a student, you may also wish to check with your instructor to confirm exactly what site or course you should be using. When an instructor places a textbook order, he or she can specify which materials are included with the book (such as an access code). Your campus bookstore will have the correct materials for your course.
If you have verified with your instructor that you have the correct materials and are going to correct website, and you are still unable to complete your registration, please contact us. Be sure to include the following information:
- Your access code
- The site you are attempting to access
- Your course ID (if any)
- The error code you received
